Public river access at Rio Vista Park allows swimming in the San Marcos River near central San Marcos.

Entry

River access and parking are free. A $5 entry fee applies to out-of-area visitors on specified summer weekends and holidays; the pool has separate admission fees.

6:00 am–11:00 pm daily unless posted otherwise.

Children

Children under 18 enter the park free. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at the pool.

Rules to know before you go

• Use designated access and exit points.
• Wear a life vest if inexperienced or swimming with children.
• Do not use single-use beverage containers in the river.
• Do not use Styrofoam products in the river.
• Do not drink alcohol on city-owned dams, spillways or bridges.
